Hardwood or fauxwood — which is right for you?
Every shutter we make is built to measure and fitted by our own team. The real choice is the material, and it comes down to the room. Here's what each range gives you:
Hardwood shutters
Crafted from premium paulownia timber and hand finished in a variety of colours and stains. Real wood brings a natural grain and warmth you can't replicate — and because it's light and strong, we can build tall, wide, angled and shaped panels that follow your window exactly.
- Warm, natural timber grain — beautiful in living rooms and period homes
- Lightweight, so ideal for bay windows, arches and large panels
- Hand-painted or stained to your chosen colour
- Helps insulate your windows and cut energy bills
- 10-year guarantee
Fauxwood shutters
Built from a solid polymer with an aluminium-reinforced core, fauxwood gives you the look of a hand-painted timber shutter with none of the upkeep. It's completely waterproof, so steam, splashes and busy family life simply don't touch it.
- 100% waterproof — the right choice for bathrooms & wet rooms
- Won't warp, crack, fade or discolour, even on sunny windows
- Aluminium-reinforced for tall, wide, sag-free panels
- Wipe-clean finish — perfect for kitchens and rentals
- Looks just like painted wood, at a friendlier price
Not sure which? On a free home measure we'll bring samples of both, look at every window with you and recommend the right material room by room — many homes end up with a mix.
Choose your slat width: 63mm, 76mm or 89mm
The slats (or louvres) are the horizontal bars you tilt to let light in. Wider slats mean fewer of them down the panel, so you get more glass, more daylight and a clearer view out. Narrower slats give a busier, more traditional look. Every shutter we make comes in all three widths — the right one usually depends on the size of your window.

63mm slats
The traditional choice — a closer, more detailed look that suits smaller windows and period homes beautifully.
- Most popular size — a balanced look
- Neater on smaller and narrower windows
- Sits well in Victorian and terrace properties
- Good privacy while still letting light through

76mm slats
The all-rounder. A little more glass when open, with a clean, contemporary line that suits most homes.
- More light and a better outward view
- Great for medium and larger windows
- Smart, uncluttered look when closed
- The size we'd suggest if you're unsure

89mm slats
The widest slat we make — a bold, statement shutter that opens up a big window to the full view.
- Maximum daylight and the clearest view
- Best on large windows and picture windows
- Fewer slats, so the least obstruction
- Looks striking in open-plan spaces
Can't decide? On a free home measure we'll bring samples of all three widths, hold them up to your windows and show you the difference in daylight and view — then you can choose with your own eyes.
